Here on tourists in the city will be treated with a melange of cultural programmes on weekends. Starting from October 19, the district administration will introduce tourists to different art forms, at tourist spots in and around the city.
The new initiative planned to cater to the tourists throughout the year, as announced by the Higher Education and Tourism Minister R V Deshpande and Revenue and District in-charge Minister V Sreenivas Prasad ahead of Dasara, will be unveiled with the presentation of various cultural programmes in front of the Kote Anjaneya Swamy temple, Mysore Palace North gate on October 19 at 5 pm, according to Deputy Commissioner C Shikha.
Artistes under the banner of Kannada and Culture department will be presenting folk programmes as opening attraction, followed by Kathakali from South Zone Cultural centre; rendition of Nada Geethe and light music by Mahalinga and troupe; Puja kunita by Savitha Cheerakunnaiah and troupe from Mandya; Somana kunita from Kumaraiah and troupe from Tumkur; Nandi dhawaja dance by Shashidhar and troupe from Davangere; Jaggalige from Vasanth Kammar and troupe from Ramdurga; Kamsale from Lingaiah and troupe from Bangalore; Jogathi dance from Shankranna Sankrannavara troupe from Gadag; Ram dolu from Shikari Ramu and troupe from Hospet; Hagaluvesha from Ashwaramanna and troupe from Bellary; Karaga kolata from Jeevan and troupe from Udupi; Pata kunita from Rangaswamy and troupe from Bangalore; Nagari from Mysore Manjunath and troupe; Veeragase from Tarikere Shweta and troupe; Kahale from Kiran Kumar and troupe from Tiptur; and folk dance from Usha Datar and troupe from Bangalore.
In the following weeks, the programmes wil be held at Dasara Exhibition grounds, Palace and other tourist spots.
