The second phase of the Covid-19 vaccination drive was rolled out in Dakshina Kannada on Monday with Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra K V receiving the first shot at Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru.

City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar, IAS officer Mona Rawat, and DCPs Hariram Shankar and Vinay Gaonkar were also administered the Covid-19 vaccine.

In the second phase, officials from the police, revenue, rural development and Panchayat Raj departments and ULBs are set to be covered. The vaccination drive is being held at 41 sites in Dakshina Kannada with a target of 6,054 beneficiaries.

District Health Officer Dr Ramachandra Bayari said that the state government has issued guidelines to vaccinate all the beneficiaries from the four mentioned departments till Wednesday. If some beneficiaries from these departments are not covered till the said date, they will be vaccinated on February 11, he added.
