Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta met Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnav and discussed various concerns pertaining to the crucial railway infrastructure development of the region.
He highlighted the pending railway issues especially Mangaluru- Bengaluru connectivity concerns, the Shiradi Ghat stretch among others.
A letter was also submitted seeking the intervention and support of the Union Minister for issues bothering the region. The letter sought the merger of Konkan Railway with Indian Railways and highlighted the need for doubling the railway tracks between Bengaluru and Mangaluru which is crucial to better rail connectivity between Bengaluru, state capital with Mangaluru.
He also raised the issue of enhanced passenger facilities on rail routes of the region and the passenger rail services between Subrahmanya and Mangaluru.
Having raised the issue, Captain Brijesh Chowta highlighted these concerns in another tweet drawing the attention of the state government to the above mentioned issues.
In his X handled, he posted “In this direction, I request our Karnataka govt led by CM Shri @siddaramaiah to kindly provide the necessary state support for the swift redressal of various concerns pertaining to both Konkan Railways as well as HMRDC to ease movement of both people and cargo in this important stretch between Mangalore and Bangalore.”
Bengaluru Rural MP Dr CN Manjunath, Udupi Chikamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary and Uttara Karnataka MP Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri were with him when meeting the Railway minister.
