The Dasara elephants, which reached Mysuru Palace on Wednesday, were weighed on Thursday. As expected, Arjuna, the captain, weighed the heaviest at 5,650 kg. Totally six elephants were weighed.
The elephants are weighed twice during Dasara. They will be weighed for the second time before Jamboo Savari.
Two other elephants-- Chaitra and Varalakshmi-- weighed 2,920 kg and 3,120 kg respectively.
First time participant Dhananjaya weighed 4,045 kg.
Gopi and Vikrama weighed 4,435 kg and 3,985 kg respectively.
Dasara authorities mentioned that the elephants would be put on a booster diet and each of them was likely to weigh 400 kg to 800 kg heavier by festival time.
