Kodagu Deputy Commissioner P I Srividya directed officials to make Cauvery Theerthodbhava on October 17 at Talacauvery a memorable event for devotees.

Srividya while addressing officials at the preparatory meeting on Monday, said that Theerthodbhava will occur at 6.43 pm. In order to prevent any chaos, additional buses should be deployed and all basic facilities should be provided for devotees at Talacauvery.

Officials should ensure uninterrupted power supply from Bhagamandala to Talacauvery. Barricades should be placed near Talacauvery “Kundike” and along the pond, to ensure disciplined entry and exit of devotees. Fire service personnel and Home Guards should be deployed at Talacauvery. An emergency health unit should be opened and an ambulance should be parked there, she said.

The deputy commissioner also directed officials to fill up potholes on the road leading to Talacauvery and clear the weeds growing beside the road.

Kodagu Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Prashanth Kumar Mishra issued directions to ensure potable water was available to the devotees.

He also directed officials to install temporary toilets and give priority to cleanliness.

Bhagamandala - Bhagandeshwara - Talacauvery Temple Committee Chairman B S Thammaiah said that the additional buses should be deployed until Tula Sankramana as large number devotees are expected during the period.

Kodagu Superintendent of Police Sumana D Pannekara said security will be in place to ensure hassle-free Theerthodbhava celebrations for devotees.
