Notwithstanding the humiliation of derogatory posters being posted on her house, a woman attempted to commit suicide by hanging herself at Mududi village in Arasikere taluk on Sunday.

Some miscreants are said to have hung up the posters, which contained lewd comments and imagery of Lolakshamma, the victim.

Her family members foiled her bid to commit suicide. She was admitted to the government hospital in Arasikere.

Under the leadership of Lolakshamma, the women of the village had recently staged a demonstration in front of Hassan Deputy Commissioner’s office against the illicit liquor trade in the village.

It is suspected that those in the liquor trade are behind the act.
