DFRL, CFTRI supply food to flood-hit regions

Mysuru-based Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL) has sent three tonne of food items for the flood-affected people of Wayanad district in Kerala on Saturday.

The food was despatched on Saturday. The consignment consisting of ready-to-eat food packets weighing 10 kg was airlifted from the Mysuru Airport at Mandakalli on Friday evening.

The Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) too, is all prepared to send 15,000 ready-to-eat meals for the flood victims in Kodagu, Wayanad and central parts of Kerala.

In addition, the authorities have also packed high protein biscuits and rusks. Each meal consist chapatis, upma mix and imli powder. The authorities will dispatch the consignments to the respective places on Sunday morning, said CFTRI in-charge director R Subramanian.

He also said that the institute will send another few truck-loads of food material.
