The decision to organise district utsav was taken at a meeting convened by MLA M P Appachu Ranjan, Zilla Panchayat President Shantheyanda Ravi Kushalappa, Deputy Commissioner K H Ashwathanarayana Gowda, ZP member S N Rajarao, CEO N Krishnappa, Additional DC K M Chandre Gowda here at Old Fort hall premises on Friday.
MLA Appachu Ranjan said that the district utsav will be held for two days. The elected representatives, NonGovernment Organisations, Youth organisations should take part in the utsav.
Various sub committees were constituted to look into the success of district Utsav. They are welcome, finance, procession, publicity, lodging, souvenir, cultural and exhibition committee.
Zilla Panchayat President Shantheyanda Ravi Kushalappa said litterateurs who have knowledge on the history of Kodagu should be invited for the programme.
Deputy Commissioner K H Ashwathanarayana Gowda said that another meeting will be convened on May 3 at 11 am. The Zilla Panchayat members, taluk Panchayat presidents, youth organisation presidents, Karnataka Kodava Sahithya Academy President, leaders will be invited for the meeting.
District Kannada Sahithya Parishat President T P Ramesh also spoke. Kannada and Culture department Assistant Director Vinod Chandra said that the government has already released Rs 20 lakh for the district Utsav.
