The deceased has been identified as Madegowda (52), of Yalagunda village, Chamarajanagar taluk. He died near Gananguru, on the way to the hospital in Bengaluru. Madegowda's son Somesh said that his father sustained severe injuries to his head and chest. As the private hospitals in Mysuru denied treatment, he decided to take his father to a hospital in Bengaluru.

Somesh said, "My father was brought from Chamarajanagar and admitted to KR Hospital in Mysuru at 12 noon and was treated till 4 pm. When his condition turned worse, the doctors suggested to shift him to a private hospital. Our efforts to find a private hospital for treatment turned futile. Later, I hired a car and was shifting him to Bengaluru, where he died en route near Srirangapatna."
