A rabid dog attacked an elderly man and bit off his thumb at Nehru Nagar on Saturday morning.
Kidigannegowda, a resident of Ballenahalli, was in Belur to distribute wedding invitations among his relatives, when the dog attacked him at around 7.30 am. Apart from biting off his thumb, the dog also bit him near his lip. About 30 minutes later, the same dog attacked another person, Thirumalaiah, in Lakshmipura Layout.
Both the men have been admitted to the government hospital. Town Municipal Council president Tho Cha Ananthasubbaraya met the injured men and said that TMC would pay for their medical expenses.
A team headed by Health Officer Venkatesh and TMC staff later identified the dog and killed it.
