Bengaluru: The high court Thursday directed Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) not to finalise third-round allotment of medical and dental seats till Oct 31. A division bench comprising Justices Jayant Banerji and K V Aravind extended the interim order passed on Wednesday.
The bench was hearing a batch of petitions filed by students. The provisional allotment list was published on Oct 24. The petitioners contended that less meritorious students, based on NEET rank, were allotted seats in provisional list of BDS and MBBS courses. The bench also directed the director of KEA to file an affidavit explaining the mode of allotment of seats.
The petitioners said the procedure and criteria adopted for allotment in third round of counselling were not declared in admission information bulletin-2025. It was claimed that they were contrary to the procedure adopted for allotment of all-India quota seats in government colleges across the country.
It was said students were allowed to opt for vacant seats in third round under all-India quota category, irrespective of whether a seat was allotted in first & second rounds.
