Don't let Muslim votes get split: Congress

All India Congress Committee Minority Wing chairperson Khurshid Ahmed Saiyed on Tuesday called upon Muslim community to ensure the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) do not split Muslim votes in the upcoming assembly elections.

Saiyed was speaking at a convention of Congress' minority workers in the Bengaluru Central, North and South district units. "These parties will work towards breaking the Muslim votes. Even the JD(S) has eyed Muslim votes," he said.

KPCC Minority Wing president Y Saeed Ahmed said the party will hold talks with SDPI and AIMIM. "It is necessary to consolidate minority votes," he said.

Rajya Sabha member K Rahman Khan warned the Muslims to beware of BJP's attempts to polarise voters on religious lines.

Bengaluru   Development Minister KJ George and Urban Development Minister R Roshan Baig also addressed the workers.
