A proposal to accord equal consideration in hiring the spouse or, son or daughter  of a government employee who dies while serving, is before the Karnataka government.    

It has so far been the practice of Karanataka government to offer the dependent spouse of a government employee, a government appointment on compassionate grounds.  

The  Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) which has been so far prioritising job for the dependent spouse  first, son next and an unmarried daughter third, has now placed before the cabinet of ministers a proposal to consider all three on equal priority.

The proposal placed before the cabinet states that DPAR envisages to  give  a government appointment  to the son or daughter; even in cases where they are married, till as far as the dependents (father or mother) approve it.
