Tension prevailed at Maddur town on Tuesday following the murder of JD(S) leader Thoppanahalli Prakash on Monday evening.
High drama was witnessed at the mortuary of Guru Shanthapa hospital as the supporters and JD(S) workers staged protests and did not allow to conduct postmortem till CM H D Kumaraswamy visits the town.
There were heated arguments between the police and JD(S) party men. Hundreds had gathered near the mortuary. SP Shivaprakash Devraj was pacifying the agitated crowd so that the postmortem could be conducted.
The CM is expected to visit Thoppanhalli at 2 pm. Meanwhile, police has beefed up security in the village after a few damaged the houses of Puttaswamy and Nandisha of the village and taken five people into custody in connection with the murder.
