A young man from Kasargod who was smuggling gold from Dubai, hidden in mobile phones, has been arrested in Mangaluru by sleuths of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).

This seizure happened at the Bajpe Mangaluru International Airport on Tuesday.

DRI officials have seized Rs 1.282 kilograms of gold from the smuggler.

The accused is Ahmed Nabil Gafoor (21) of Kasaragod. He arrived from Dubai by Spice Jet at 6 pm at the Bajpe airport.

The DRI sleuths acted on a tip-off, arrested Gafoor, and seized the gold worth Rs 39 lakh from him.
