Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has joined the chorus of non-Congress chief ministers opposing the UPA government’s move to set up the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC).

He said the Centre planned to use NCTC to “intervene” in the administration of State governments. The move of the Centre is aimed at infringing on the rights of state governments. “We are planning to hold discussions with chief ministers of other states who have opposed NCTC. If necessary, the State government will write to the Centre.”

Turning to other issues, Gowda said the next Lokayukta would be appointed after the completion of bypoll to Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency. On the notice over Justice Chandrashekharaiah, Gowda said he wouldn’t react as the case “is still in the court”.

He said the State government would implement Right to Services Act in a phased manner on pilot basis from March 1 to tackle corruption.
