Elephant killing: four guns sent to forensic lab

The police have seized four single-barrel guns from villagers in connection with the killing of an elephant, at Palangala, Virajpet, in March 2018. The guns have been sent to a forensic lab in Bengaluru.

The carcass of an elephant was found in the coffee estate of Parveen at Palangala on March 29, 2018. The officials confirmed that the elephant died due to bullet injury. Following a direction from the court, a criminal case was registered and an investigation is in progress.

Following the direction of the court, N Kumar Aradhya was appointed as the investigation officer. Accordingly, he has sent the single-barrel guns of Cariappa, Uthappa, Muthappa and Praveen along with the bullets collected from the body of the elephant which has been sent to forensic laboratory for further investigation.
