Addressing the MCC’s general meeting on Monday, he said about 8 mgd water is being illegally drawn though the connection in the Corporation limits .
The MCC started the drive to disconnect illegal connections on August 17, which will be continued until all unauthorised connections are disconnected, he said. The disconnected connections include the ones near Adyar Guttu, Adyar Katte, Adyar R K Garage, Valachchil Farangipet, Farangipet autorickshaw stand, 10th mile stone near GMJ Compound and Lower Thumbe.
A few more illegal connections identified at Maripalla and Sujeer are yet to be disconnected, Bhat added.
138 trees cut
The Mayor told media persons later that as many as 138 trees have been cut in the city limits for the purpose of widening and concreting roads. The Corporation is giving Rs 10 lakh to the Forest department for planting and rearing new saplings, he informed.
