A lawyer on behalf of some private parties argued with the CMC president P Dayanand, when he arrived along with his staff for the demolition. The lawyer said that the eviction drive should not be undertaken without proper documents.
The CMC chief then returned to the office of the civic body and held discussions with the vice-president M Bhaktavatsalam, the incharge commissioner Peddappaiah and the assistant commissioner.
They later decided to first issue a notice to the private parties and then take action. Later, the assistant commissioner told reporters that action would be taken against those who had encroached the school premises overnight.
He said there was confusion over separate documents with regard to the area in question in both the CMC and the revenue department.
The assistant commissioner said that it was not possible for there being revenue land within a radius of five km of the CMC. The disputed land would be recovered after going through the documents, he added.
Bhaktavatsalam requested that the incharge commissioner should extend support to the CMC as there were protests against the civic body by various organisations who are alleging that it had done nothing in regard to the encroachment.
Meanwhile, headmaster Balakrishna has filed a case with the Robertsonpet police seeking action against the guilty. Block education officer Krishnamurthy has appealed to the deputy commissioner to take action to evict the encroachers from the school compound.
