The Karnataka High Court on Thursday suggested State government to create a Rs 500-crore fund for the welfare of endosulfan victims.

During the hearing of a petition related to endosulfan victims, amicus curiae Vaishali Hegde made a submission that an amount of Rs 200 crore should be earmarked for the purpose.

The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice D H Waghela and Justice B V Nagarathna suggested that government should create a Rs 500-crore fund. When government counsel submitted that Rs five crore had been earmarked for the victims, the bench observed that it was just peanuts for victims.
