The protesters charged that the Block Education Officer had meted out injustice while fixing salary for the untrained teachers under Rule 43 of KCSR. They contended the rule says that there should not be any disparity among the trained and untrained teachers, while fixing the salary as the nature of their jobs is same. But the wages fixed for untrained teachers working in Alur, Belur, Arsikere, Hassan, Channarayapatna, Arakalgud and Holenarasipur taluks is not same, when compared to their trained counterparts, they claimed.
Despite writing to the authorities concerned, there is no response from them over the issue.
All the teachers should be given equal pay as per the government directive dated January 20, the agitators urged.
B Sundar, S T Rudrappa, Ramesh, Y N Somaiah and others participated in the protest.
