In a press meet here, he said at present, the State government pays Rs 29 as commission per quintal of rice, Rs 24 per quintal of wheat and Rs 14 per quintal of sugar. However, transportation cost was itself eating into the commission paid for them. They incur Rs 22 per quintal towards transporting sugar.

The Association had been demanding distribution of ration cards for APL families as thet regularly fight with owners.

The Government is ready to implement the long-time demand from Nov 1. However, the key concerns affecting the PDS distributors is still to be addressed.

He wanted the government to hike the commission amount to at least Rs 50 per per quintal of all the three items. The Government has vested responsibility of disbursing the BPL cards to a private company but it has not been able to identify and distribute the cards.

This has created confusion. The tender given for that company should be cancelled immediately and also book a criminal case against them.

He also urged not grant more licences for the opening of fair price shops. The office-bearers Ramachandru, Channakeshava Gowda, H P Lakshman were present.
