Three labourers died when a tree that they were cutting fell on them at Kayila in Patrame village of Belthangady taluk on Tuesday.
According to the police, the deceased are Prashanth Kumbara (23), Swasthik Poojary (25), both hailing from Patrame and Ganesh (38) from Uppinangady. The dhoop tree (Ailanthus malabaricum) on the land belonging to Lokayya Gowda was being felled by five persons when the tree fell on them, thus killing them on the spot. Two others had a miraculous escape. Dharmasthala Police have registered a case.
