Vijayanand, the son of former MLC Sachidanand is trying his luck as a JD(S) candidate from the Keregodu ZP seat. Sachidanand is the grandson of the late K V Shankaragowda, known as an ‘eternal minister’ in the district.
Meenakshamma, daughter of former MLA Kempegowda, is contesting from Chinakuruli of Pandavapura taluk. Swaroopchand, the son of former MLA Manchegowda, is contesting as a BJP candidate from Koppa Zilla Panchayat constituency of Maddur taluk.
Sai Ravindra, the son-in-law of former MLA and district BJP president, G B Shivakumar, is contesting on a BJP ticket from Dudda ZP constituency in Mandya taluk.
Vidya Nagendra, a relative of former MLA D C Thammanna, is the BJP candidate from the Budanur ZP seat. She is in a straight fight with the JD(S) as the Congress has not put up a candidate. The ZP has been a stepping stone for many senior politicians from the district.
