Farmer convicted for cultivating ganja

The Additional District Session Court has sentenced a farmer to two-year imprisonment and has imposed Rs 2,000 as fine for cultivating ganja.

Konnari Puttaiah had grown 9.5 kg of ganja at the backyard of his house in Kokkebare village, near here.

Hanur Police had registered a case on October 30, 2012, in this regard.
In another case, the court has imposed Rs 4,000 fine on two people for peddling ganja. Hanur Police had booked Eranna of Peddanapalya village and Lohith of Mysuru when the duo was transporting 1.1 kg of ganja to Mysuru from Kollegala on a motorcycle, on April 12, 2012.
