The JD(S) has invited former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah to inaugurate its state-level minorities' convention in Tumakuru on Sunday.

The party, which has organised the convention at the junior college grounds in Tumakuru, is expecting more than one lakh people to participate in the event aimed at wooing minorities ahead of the election.

The JD(S) has decided to organise a series of conventions and rallies in a bid to woo voters from all communities. While another minorities convention is scheduled to be held in Raichur, the party will organise a Dalit convention in Bengaluru (Palace Grounds) on December 13. On January 9, it has planned to organise Souharda Samavesha in Mangaluru.
