City-based writer Chetana Tirthahalli claims that she has been receiving threat messages on social network even after lodging a police complaint at the Hanumanthanagar Police Station.

Tirthahalli, who spoke to Deccan Herald on Saturday, said that a few fundamentalists, who used “fake accounts” had threatened her in abusive language and sent messages to her Facebook after she expressed her opinion against Hindu religion and beef ban. The writer’s wall, however, had no such comments.

The writer who claims to have received threat messages on facebook over the last six months lodged a police complaint only two weeks ago. “I thought it was not necessary to lodge a complaint and ignored the messages earlier. After Kalaburgi murder, I feared that a similar fate would befall me. It was then I went ahead and filed a police complaint,” she said.

Tirthahalli, who is a single mother, said that she has been a victim of character assassination.
