The department has pushed a long list of demands to the State government.
Talking to reporters after the launch of Civil Defence division at Vijayanagar and Chandra Layout, the Inspector General of Fire Services S Sandhu said that the floods in North Karnataka has compelled the fire and emergency services to prepare a comprehensive plan in association with the authorities of National Disaster Relief Force. A report in this regard has been sent to the State government for clearance. The recommendations are for supply of some sophisticated equipment to handle the situation like the one due to heavy rains in North Karnataka.

Sandhu added that these equipment cannot be supplied immediately because they are manufactured only when the order is placed.

“These equipment are quite sophisticated and cannot be bought overnight. We have to place order first,” he said.
