A musical fountain that reflects the life, achievements and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda will soon be set up in Mysore.
Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, who spoke at the programme commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda at Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, said the fountain will be installed at a cost of Rs seven crore. “The money has already been allocated in this year’s budget,” he said.
“It will be similar to the Lumbini Garden musical fountain in Hyderabad. In addition, we will have a laser show. The place in Mysore where Swami Vivekananda stayed for three weeks in 1893 will also be developed at a cost of Rs three crore,” Shettar.
Higher Education Minister C T Ravi said that all roads in the vicinity of educational institutions would be named after the Swami and the proposal is already being chalked out.
“Special funds have also been released to educational institutions in the City to keep books at college libraries depicting Swami Vivekananda’s life and values,” he said.
