Three people died on the spot when a Trax Cruiser jeep ferrying them overturned after one of its tyres burst at Artal cross in Telsang village in Athani taluk on Thursday. Another passenger, who was grievously injured, breathed his last at a private hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Prakash Desai (38), Hasina Desai (24), Bhimshi Madar (65), and Ankit Madar (9), all residents of Kokatnur. About fifteen persons injured in the accident have been admitted to hospitals in Athani and Miraj for treatment.
The accident occurred when the passengers were returning to their village after attending a fair at Telsang. Aigali police have registered a case.
