The frogs being married in a traditional manner at Chamarajnagar on Sunday.

On Sunday they performed the wedding of the frogs at Madeshwara temple near Edabetta. To their luck it did rain for a short while in the evening after the wedding and the joy of the villagers knew no bounds.

The villagers who had caught a pair of frogs, however, did not give heed to the ‘croaking’ of the frogs which is supposed to herald the arrival of monsoon.

The village elders had taken the lead to conduct the wedding according to Hindu tradition. The priests arrived on time for the muhurat. As already decided the frogs’ wedding was performed in the auspicious time of Vrishaba lagna.

The children also participated in the wedding with great joy. The frogs were blessed by the villagers with rice thrown on them. Later, the villagers partook on a sumptuous feast.

It had rained once last week in the district. In the light of lack of rain in the district, the villagers tried to appease the rain gods by performing the marriage of the frogs.
