Funds sought for road works, transport

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Wednesday sought more funds from the State government for road infrastructure and transport among others. 

“The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) operates 22,500 buses. There is
a proposal to scrap buses that clock at total of after it reaches a total of eight lakh kilometres. The State government should allot more funds for road infrastructure and transport,” he said. 

He blamed the lack of co-ordination between various civic agencies like the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board, and the BBMP for the poor condition of the City’s roads, given that most damage has been caused due to roads dug up for their various project.
