Ganesha idol immersed under cops' vigil in Chamarajanagar

The idol of Sri Vidyaganapathi, that was installed on Ganesha festival day, was immersed on Wednesday. A mammoth procession was taken out as a part of the ceremony.

The policemen kept a tight vigil especially near the places of worships, belonging to different communities, en route the procession to ensure peace and harmony.

Police security was beefed up. Peace meetings were held in advance and volunteers had been told to adhere to the guidelines set by the police. Watching the procession from atop the buildings were banned and the whole event was videographed by the police. About 12 folk troupes accompanied the procession.

Superintendent of Police Kuldip Kumar R Jain, Additional SP Muthuraj M Gowda supervised the security arrangements in place.
