Launching it at the Vidhana Soudha, Minister for Transport R Ashok said the computerisation will help in speedy issual of permits and also help check fake/illegal permits and their use.

“Henceforth, inter-state permits will be issued at STA through computers and this will replace the old system of hand-written permits. With computerisation, nearly 50,000 goods vehicles and 6,000 passenger vehicles will go online,” he said.

According to the transport department, the computerisation of the process will ensure that vehicle owners who seek yellow board permits for their newly registered vehicles will be given the same without delay. However, in the case of old vehicles, the Department is initiating the entry of data after which computerised permits would be issued to them too. The computerised permit will have a hologram of the department.
This initiative of the transport department comes soon after the total computerisation of all the 55 RTOs in the State. The process, which began on June 25, has been completed in a record time of five and a half months.

The computerisation software has been written by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), while the hardware process has been set up by Rosmerta Technologies Private Limited. Soon, the Department will also make available all permit details/data on its website.
Principal Secretary to the Transport Department M K Shankarlinge Gowda and Commissioner for Transport and Road Safety, Bhaskar Rao were also present during the launch.
