 The girl who was allegedly assaulted by a group in Shirva on January 19 over a land dispute case was admitted to the district government hospital in Ajjarakad on Wednesday.

The 17-year-old girl along with her father was assaulted and they were said to have denied admission at a hospital in Shirva.

The girl, a BSc student and her father had sustained injuries. Meanwhile, the girl developed back pain and bleeding following which she got admitted in Ajjarakad hospital. Udupi IFKCA president Prashanth Jathana, who visited the girl at the hospital alleged that doctors at the hospital in Shirva failed to perform their duty by denying admission to the girl. He also said that doctors at the hospital in Shirva were ‘influenced’ by powerful persons. The girl had identified those who assaulted her as Dheeraj Shetty who is associated with a political party and others as Suresh, Sushant, Vishwanath and Vanaja. In the case, a counter complaint has also been filed.
