Youth should give priority to Ayurveda system of medicine, said Zilla Panchayat President Sujatha Krishnappa.

Speaking during National Ayurveda Day celebrations organised by district administration, Ayush department, Health and Family Welfare department here on Monday, she said, “People were preparing traditional medicines at home in the past. Over a period of time, people have forgotten the tradition.”

MLC S L Bhojegowda said that Ayurveda emphasises on simple but nutritious food. The traditional Ayurveda system of medicines should not be neglected.

MLA C T Ravi said, “Ayurveda uses naturally available products. There are no side effects from Ayurvedic medicines. In the past, kitchen was a treasure trove of Ayurvedic medicines. All the diseases were checked through food system. There is a need to give priority to naturally available medicines.”

MLC S L Dharmegowda said there is a need to create awareness on Ayurveda.
