The factory belongs to one V H Patil. Raw materials used for making plywood were kept in the factory. Some machineries have also been damaged in the incident.

The fire brigade had to struggle for eight hours to extinguish the fire, caused, probably due to electric short circuit. The factory had remained closed on Sunday. When some youths, who were returning home after watching the England-India T-20 cricket match, noticed smoke  billowing from the factory. They immediately alerted the owner through the phone.

The owner with the help of neighbourers tried to put out the fire, but in vain. The fire brigade arrived at the spot 45 minutes late. They continued their operation till 10 am on Monday to douse the fire. Vidyanagar police have registered a case.
