The Opposition BJP members on Wednesday staged a walkout in the Legislative Council after the State government refused to table the Panchayat Raj Amendment Bill during this session.

During a discussion on the budget, member Mahantesh Kavatagimath wanted to know when the government would table the bill submitted almost six months ago. He reminded that the government had assured about it in Belagavi session.

Public Works Department Minister H C Mahadevappa said the that government had constituted a Cabinet sub-committee to look into the bill and it would be tabled at an ‘appropriate time.’ To a query by Eshwarappa, the minister said that the government would think about tabling the bill during the session. “At present, we are studying it,” he said. Unsatisfied with the reply, the Opposition staged a walkout.
