“It is Laxman’s ability to see things in an uncommon way that has made a common man extraordinary. He is not just a cartoonist, but also a social thinker and reformer,” said the Governor.

“The book celebrates facets of Laxman’s immeasurable talent, and is a tribute to his genius,” said Dr Dharmendra Bhandari, who has been a long time friend of Laxman. The book is divided into five sections and dwells into the lesser known aspects of Laxman’s life and work, the first of which provides a biographical sketch of the cartoonist. The second section on art has a variety of work in water colour, pastels and ink and reveals an unknown side of Laxman.

The third has a selection of his best caricatures, and the fourth and fifth exhibit his best work in humour and political cartoons respectively.
