Governor Vajubhai Vala is learnt to have, on Thursday, directed the State government to submit a  report on farmers’ suicide and steps taken to provide relief to farmers.

The governor has sought the report following a spurt in the cases of farmers’ suicides. As many as 68 farmers ended their lives since April this year. The majority of the cases are reported from Mandya district.

It is said that the governor has also sought a report on the cases pending before it, seeking its nod for prosecuting the officials on corruption charges. But there is no official confirmation in this regard.

As many as 107 cases are said to be pending before the government seeking prosecution permission.
