The State government on Monday moved the High Court, challenging the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) order setting aside the appointment of Shankar Bidari as director general and inspector general of police, Karnataka State Police.

Advocate General Vijayashankar placed the matter before the Division Bench comprising Justice Dilip B Bhonsle, citing urgency of the matter. However, Justice Bhonsle insisted that it would come up for hearing as per the list of registry and adjourned the matter. Speaking to Deccan Herald, A R Infant, who is to be appointed the ad hoc DG and IGP, with immediate effect, as per the CAT order, said the government was to issue a notification for him to take charge, as the CAT order in itself was not an executive order.

He said his only option was to wait for either the government to issue a notification or the matter to be settled in the High Court. He is due for retirement on May 31.
