The government will open four recharge stations for electric vehicles (two and four wheelers) soon, Energy Minister D K Shivakumar told the Assembly.
Replying to a discussion on the budget proposals for 2017-18, he said a recharge station is being planned for the first time in the country.
The minister said thhe number of electric vehicles is on the rise. Electric cars and bikes and even electric buses are plying on the roads. They prevent air population and reduce demand on fossil fuel.
He said there is pressure on the state by the Centre and Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission on metering all irrigation pump sets. However, the state has not taken a final decision in this regard, he said.
