He was speaking at a function organised to celebrate late writer journalist P Lankesh’s birth anniversary and P Lankesh Award presentation ceremony at the Senate Hall.

“Glory of the Vijayanagar empire is a part of the history. Hence, there is no need to recreate the glory presumed to have existed a few hundred years ago,” he added.

Presenting the Best Director award to Atuman Gosh for his movie ‘Ankshuman Chobi’, popular actor Prakash Rai lamented that the number of movies instigating communal violence was increasing which was an unhealthy trend. ‘Ankshuman Chobi’ was a movie with a difference.

Gosh had tasted success in his first endeavour, Rai added. Director Kavitha Lankesh said 16 movies were nominated from different languages for the award.
