Animal Husbandry and District in-charge Minister A Manju said that the state government has released Rs 264 crore for the preparations for Mahamastakabhisheka at Shravanabelagola, being held once in 12 years.

After hoisting the tri-colour, during the Republic Day programme, organised by the district administration and Kannada and Culture department, he called upon the people to make the Bahubali Mahamastakabhisheka, which is a Nada utsava, a great success.

Highlighting various government programmes, Manju said, "The government has given priority to drinking water as the district has been facing drought since several years. In all, 508 borewells, 1,359 minor water supply projects and 110 pure drinking water projects have been implemented."

"The government has released Rs 9.41 crore financial assistance for the rejuvenation of coconut crop, and 79,404 quintals of copra has been purchased at a cost of Rs 42 crore. Similarly, maize and ragi have been purchased with support price," he said.

Facilities

Dialysis centres have been opened in five taluks and scanning facilities are made available in all taluks. The Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences has been upgraded to 750-bed capacity and Rs 2.24 crore has been released for other facilities, Manju said.

In all, 44 teams took part in the march past, including students of various schools and colleges, NCC, Homeguards and police personnel. The students performed cultural programmes on patriotic themes.

The minister felicitated constable Manjunath, Homeguard M S Sathish, NCC cadet Chandrashekar, Kanchanamala from Scouts and Guides and several others on the occasion.

MLA H S Prakash, Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri, SP Rahul Kumar Shahpurawad, and ZP president Shwetha Devaraj were present.
