Govt to revise law on cow slaughter

The new bill will replace the existing Anti-Cow Slaughter Act of 1964. The revised bill is said to have strict regulations on cow slaughter.

Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar, on Wednesday, said as per the existing Advocates Act, advocates welfare fund had been fixed at Rs 1.5 lakh.

The government had decided to increase the amount to Rs 4 lakh. Families of advocates who die after practising for a certain period, would get the fund. The government decided the amount after holding meetings with representatives of Bar Council and the advocates associations.
