The newly-constructed building of a government high school and pre-university college in Kaivara has been gathering dust. The rooms constructed at a cost of 20 lakh have become places of illegal activities, according to the locals.

The government High School in the village is situated adjacent to the main road. Since Kaivara is also a religious centre, hundreds of vehicles ply on the road everyday. The school also lacked a playground.

Because of all these reasons, it was decided to shift the school to a nearby place. Four rooms were newly constructed and the elected representatives promised to provide more rooms.

But later the old school was demolished and nine rooms were built in the place at a cost of Rs 53 lakh, leaving the earlier constructed rooms to gather dust. Now the old rooms have become a den of illegal activities.

The schools must compulsorily have playgrounds according to the government order.

But, now the new building is constructed in the same place, which lacked space for a playground, leading to several doubts among people about the very intention of constructing the new building in the same place.
