Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Dinesh Gundu Rao that the Health Department would be asked to conduct a test on Maggi noodles and take necessary action if it contained dangerous chemicals.

Speaking with mediapersons here on Sunday, he said the Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra governments had hinted that Maggi noodles would be banned as some of the chemical components added in the noodles are proven hazardous to human beings. Hence, the department of Food and Civil Supplies would ask the Health department to conduct a lab test on Maggi noodle samples before taking further step.

All the products sold in the market had to follow guidelines mentioned in the Food Security Act and goods found harmful for consumption would be banned.

The Health department would take up a sample test in a week’s time and the government would disclose the report after examining the product, he added.
