One of the deceased is C N Raja (32), who is contesting for the GP election from Kiruguru village. Another deceased has been identified as Raja’s friend Dileep. The mishap occurred when both were travelling in an autorickshaw after attending a wedding ceremony in Virajpet. Raja, who was driving the autorickshaw, and his friend died on the spot after a private bus collided head on against their vehicle at Bittangala. Raja leaves behind wife and a child. Virajpet Police registered a case.

Official sources said that election will not be postponed in Kiruguru village in the wake of candidate’s death.
