SPS founder president S R Hiremath and technical advisor R V Nagmule told mediapersons on Saturday that SPS would write to the CEC members, as GPS readings were not mentioned on the maps submitted by it.

The National Committee for Protection of Natural Resources (NCPNR) representatives met Lokayukta Shivaraj Patil on Friday, and urged him to take action against politicians - including B S Yeddyurappa and Reddy brothers, and 700 officials allegedly involved in illegal mining activities.

Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda will also be urged to take steps for proper implementation of the report on illegal mining submitted by previous Lokayukta Santosh Hegde, Hiremath said.

“We welcome the Supreme Court order on mining in Tumkur and Chitradurga districts. A comprehensive survey should be conducted there also,” he said adding that the NCPNR representatives will take part in the meeting to be held in Bellary on August 28, to study the impact of mining on environment.
