Speaking after laying foundation stone for Stree Shakti Bhavan here on Saturday, RDPR minister Jagadish Shettar said the GPs at present receive a grant of Rs six lakh and a proposal has been submitted to release maximum of Rs 12 lakh, depending on population.
He called upon elected representatives to make use of the funds for constructive work.
Shettar said the government is considering empowerment of institution of Taluk Panchayat by granting more funds. The Union government has rated Karnataka top most in implementation of rural development programmes, he added.
